In order to test out the manual importation process I headed over to the Serious Eats website and selected a recipe. It’s possible to grab recipes from sites other than those listed by Paprika but to do so requires some manual intervention. These sources include BBC Food, The Food Network, a number of celebrity chef sites and others. Although you can enter any web address, you are given a list of recipe sources that Paprika is able to automatically import from. When you click on the Browser menu option on the left side of the application a web browser is brought up on the right side. Capturing Recipes from the WebĪ special feature of Paprika is the ability to easily nab recipes on the web and bring them into your Paprika library. The help page (a well laid out single web page) explains that Paprika can import recipes from MasterCook, MealMaster, Living Cookbook and a custom YAML format. This is interesting because Paprika contains a web browser within itself that can be used to grad recipes from the web but the help page is opened in a standard browser window. The Help -> Paprika Help menu open opens up the Paprika help web page in a browser. I was surprised that no tutorial video or getting started information was presented but I suppose that if the app is easy enough to use then they aren’t necessary.
